Ji-Young Yoon, Ph.D. is an online therapist, licensed in Connecticut and California. She has interests in cross-cultural counseling and racial identity development, with specialized training in the provision of evidence based treatment for OCD, PTSD, depression, and anxiety disorders. She enjoys working with clients of all ages, and values professionalism, ethics, and cultural sensitivity in her work.

Dr. Ji-Young Yoon, Ph.D.

Dr. Yoon graduated with Honors from Dartmouth College in 2005 with a BA in Comparative Literature. In 2008, she received her MA in Art Therapy at New York University, where her thesis was "A Creative Alternative to the Language of Self-Injury." In 2016, she received her doctorate in School Psychology from Temple University in Philadelphia, where her dissertation was on student and school predictors of racial discrimination.

From 2016 until recently, Dr. Yoon worked as a school psychologist and IEP/504 coordinator serving mostly children of color and their families in an underserved, urban public school district in Connecticut. She offered specialized skills in the areas of childhood anxiety, developmental trauma, and working with verbally inhibited children using the creative arts. In the area of assessment, she has specialized training in the following: cross-battery assessment of cognitive functioning and processing, including executive functioning; assessment of social, emotional, and behavioral functioning; evaluation of psychosexual functioning; and standardized assessment of neurodevelopmental disorders, including attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, specific learning disorder, and autism spectrum disorder.
